Ringing In The New Year: Beyond Business and Into - The Absolute Best You Can Do...
In the past 21 articles it’s been quite a challenge to put together what’s happening to us, between us, and what this does to the logistics of our business environment. There is a lot to keep track of, and there’s a lot happening underneath of what we can see. For me, the biggest aim has been to tie all of these elements together into a cohesive whole, so that the individual parts still make sense. And that’s probably the same thing you’re working hard to do in your business, too. In some of the best business schools, how we feel within ourselves, how our relationships work, and how we work “together” to accomplish our ends successfully, is something that’s covered, but not quite at this level. This material is usually taught in a physics class, or it’s something you’ll find in a health and human biology course, for example.
If we’re talking about business and raising the bottom line consistently, what do these ideas have to do, with us? Well, everything in fact. Each person, from the CEO all the way down to the newest entry level employee is a biological individual. How we work individually, ties into how we relate to others in our interactions, and then all of these combined actions are bringing us to our bottom line results. And since everything is connected as far as results go, these are some of the key areas we might overlook; even though they are having a huge impact on the financial goals, we’re trying to reach successfully.
Rather than trying to break down every category of a person and how this entire puzzle fits together, let’s just take the next business interaction from a complete standstill. That way, we’ll easily be able to see how each part of us, and what we are working on is producing the results we wanted to have. To me the best part about this framework is that it applies to whatever we are trying to do – in life, business, and in our personal relationships. This is because the same energy is in motion between us, no matter who or where we are. So, let’s take it from the top…
We are standing still and we are about to begin our next moment with someone. This could be a customer, a supervisor, or another employee. The attitude we have here – begins to put energy into motion in our business, and between us. When we are positive in our encounters with others, understanding that this is literally how we set the positive conditions for something logistically good to happen, from here, we are capable of carrying out the actions that we need to make, successfully. Why? The two sides of our brain – the logistical and emotional side, are both working together. When we share a positive moment emotionally, this allows the logistical side of our brain to get ready to make the “right moves” that we need to become successful. Our emotions effect how "well" that we can get the job done, right. (So, enter positive and mutually respectful encounters into our business.)
With negative, stressful or conflicting emotions between us, our minds become con-fused. Then, we are unable to focus properly so that our moves can be made easily, and without error. Having a stressful environment to work in, stresses what we are trying to do, so our final outcome is in question. Since a successful positive transaction is what's bringing in the money as well as a repeat customer and even a repeat employee, you can see how a stressful dynamic, negativity works against what we were looking for in the end. (So, enter logistics that work, as well as enough employees to carry them out easily, and without stress.)
As energy builds in our business and inside of us with how we work together during the day, our minds literally become hardwired for success. So, with riding on just enough to do the job or less, not only is it harder to focus, but in time, all of our business operations begin to lose their effectiveness – everywhere. This is where we find ourselves trying to “double-down” on creating the positive results we wanted to see. Add more stress to the positive outcome that’s not happening, and well, you can see where all of this conflicting energy is going, as well as our profits! Rather than traveling any further down this grim path to try and gain more (by swimming upstream), we can fix 95% of any problems we will ever have, with just a few simple moves.
Since most major established businesses have loads of capital available, as well as the world’s best resources, then all of this doubt and worry about the final growth outcome, can be solved immediately, quite easily. It’s not a matter of understanding what to do, because that part is very simple. It’s just a matter of being willing to put the right resources, back into place.
At the end of this long struggle to gain more, hopefully we’ve noticed two things. Taking away what’s needed to produce more – has given us less than we wanted to have. It might have given us a little more money for a while, but then, the work itself every day, continues to get even harder to keep up with. So, with this formula, we’ve gained a larger positive on one side, and increased a negative on how our business is working...
The best idea is to have both sides – work for us.
In the end, we want the process of working to become as easy as possible, and we want to have the biggest bottom line at the same time. That’s what everyone in business is after; myself included. I want to have the easiest and most enjoyable time possible – in helping others, and making the most money I can. Now – that’s the kind of emotional and financial payoff we're talking about! And, I also want the same situation for you, as well. For any good idea to work long-term, both sides have to gain something very positive, from the encounter or transaction. It works this way in life, in our relationships, and in our businesses, too. So, why not put an idea into place that maximizes, what we can both get out of it?
In fact, this is what business was designed to do. Its prime function is to make the most money it can, while carrying out the specific mission of its operations. After working for several very large companies, I’m not here to criticize that aim, at all. I’m only here to make sure that each business I deal with – in fact – gets the most out of what it’s working to accomplish, without any unnecessary negatives in the equation. And that’s it. So, rather than saying, “Look at this or that” for the sake of blame, I’m only trying to highlight how putting everything back into its proper place again, will make you more money. And, it will eliminate the worry about your growth results at the same time.
To accomplish this goal successfully, there are only two ways to do it.
Just like people, some businesses are going to march ahead, without stopping to access where they’re going, and how. And some people are simply going to say, “Let’s just take a look at where we are now.” This is just like taking a vacation. We can make sure that we have everything we need before we leave, or we can at least, make a stop along the way to make sure we’re headed in the right direction! Or, we can just keeping zooming ahead. Which scenario seems like the best one, for reaching your destination? Even if we find that we took a left turn somewhere 50 miles ago, to get where we really wanted to go, we still have to make a right hand turn at some point. And the sooner we make that turn, the faster we arrive at where we wanted to be...
So, when faced with this very common example for instance, what will you do now?
Will you keep plugging ahead, or will you stop for a moment to see if you have everything you need to get to your destination, successfully?
You and I both know that stopping for a minute to make sure we have everything we need – is the absolute best thing we can do for ourselves, and our business.
This really isn’t about blame, or what’s missing. Because everyone, and I mean everyone – including me (just ask my wife!) always needs to re-calibrate where we are, and where we’re going. In the hustle of life and business, it would be impossible to be 100% on course, every moment of every day. Heck, even my GPS is wrong sometimes. Have you noticed that with yours, too? It’s frustrating, I know. Especially, when something that's supposed to be helping you is wrong. So, this is all about making sure that what you have now is going to take you exactly – where you wanted to go.
Even before we meet, I can tell that you already have close to 95% of what you need, in place. How do I know this? Because you wouldn’t have made it this far, if you were that far off. So, it’s just a matter of making a few very small adjustments, and that’s it. And guess what? You already have all of the money and resources that you need to get back to as close to 100%, as possible. Will it cost much? No. Will it be difficult to do? No. Will it be enjoyable, once everything is back in place? You bet. Will it produce more, with less stress and mistakes? Yes. And can you keep this system in place, without having to make that many adjustments in the future? Absolutely.
We’re only getting back to exactly what we need, so that we can move ahead with complete confidence, without having to look back at where we were. That’s it.
And ironically (or fitting should I say), my sales proposal is a giant step in that direction. Why? Because it strengthens or puts a few things that are always needed, back into place. It creates more positive relationships, increases customer and employee enthusiasm, expands product knowledge, fosters efficiency, moves more goods, increases sales from both sides of the counter, and it grows the bottom line daily and annually, without any costs needed to put this into place, or to keep it up and running. And, it begins to work, the day it's put in motion.
I’m not exactly sure how good that sounds on your end, but I can honestly say from here, that's quite a few benefits from just a single idea that’s put into place. I’m sure there are other consulting firms promising some big numbers for you. But can they improve all of your working conditions from the ground-up at the same time, too?
If they really can do both, I would be the first to tell you that you would be foolish not to seriously consider their plan. But if a jump in a few numbers is all you’re going to get for a little while, then – what about the rest of it? Just back to the same hard point again, right? The truth is a quick-witted consultant can take your money, by being savvy or persuasive enough. There are no fancy bells and whistles attached to my idea as rock solid as it is. I’m just a simple guy, with a great idea that works to make everything run better; while also increases your numbers.
It’s just a literal example of what’s possible, when your business is enhanced emotionally, logistically and financially. When you see it work, you’ll be encouraged to put some other ideas into place that work to do the same thing. That’s all it’s meant to do. To give you a positive boost and some of the knowledge you’ll need to see your business through this lens, again. From here, growth everywhere is inevitable, because nothing important is left out of your equation.
For the New Year, no matter what plan you decide to implement, just make sure that there are a lot more positives than negatives, for every part of your business. That’s all you need to do. From there, if the plan to implement it looks solid and is pretty straightforward, then there you go.
This is all about getting the most bang for your buck, with nothing good left out…
You’re already spending money anyway. So from now on, make sure that whatever plan you put into place, will (in fact) positively increase your working conditions, and raise your bottom line at the same time.
As long as these two very simple things are guaranteed…You’ve done – the absolute best you can do for yourself, and your business. And in the end, that’s really all we ever wanted.
Like any other good ideas we might have for the New Year, starting to put them into place is always our next step forward…
So, I’m right there with you!
