Look Up: Locating your True North Star.



I know right out of the gate that all businesses want to make the most profitable returns that they can. They want their given model and brand to continue to grow as much as possible. And, finally – everyone wants to feel as good as they can – about that.


So, to summarize the past 67 articles on how we get to those places, we can boil all of these ideas down into one simple phrase that just about covers it all:


“Everyone – wants to feel as good as they possibly can, about what they’re doing to provide a service and make more money.”


This phrase covers the 3 major pillars of any business that I covered in my first blog article, “The Biology of Business: How Does It Work?”

So, rather than trying to explain even more concepts to you about success, I’ll let you do the talking this time around! I’ll ask you a series of very simple, yet deeply important questions, so that you can fill-in exactly what you wanted to do – and how to get there…As, in the end, my approach is extremely unique and very effective; but I’m still just a guide. I can help you to explore, define and get ready to take those prosperous steps – but the last ones have to be taken by you.

My formula to increase sales will literally work – for about 35-40% of all of the retail businesses on the planet. And, it would be impossible for me to reach all of them. So, until we converse (someday soon perhaps) to mine some gems, these questions will allow you to discover your own solutions for success, and even a fresh take on how to make them possible, right now…


1.) So, let’s start out with you: Emotionally.


Underneath of the success, notoriety, fortune and influence here as the CEO of your business…If you had to summarize in just two paragraphs – what your sole (or soul) purpose is for having your particular enterprise…What would it be? Get as close to the bottom of this, as you can. It will allow you to locate your True North Star, once again. When you get in touch with that, you’ll be in the exact place that you need to be in to align everything you’re doing, so that it lands right in the center of the bulls-eye you're aiming for.


2.) With your Business: The Logistics that take you Straight to your Goal.


Now that you’re in touch with the most important reasons why you’re in business, think about a few ways that you can re-align what’s there, so that your logistics are taking you where you wanted to go – for certain. For now, just ponder a few ideas and let them develop. Think about your goal-post. Did anything present itself? Remember, this is for your Customers and your Employees equally – for now. Your Employees are the delivery system that’s taking your specific message – Straight to your Customers. How important is it for them to know how you feel, about them? And, your Employees are also collecting and delivering the bucks that go right back to you. So, think of these categories – as two ends of the same stick that you’re working with to take you (and them) exactly where you wanted to go. Can you start to see now – why connecting those two ends needs to be almost seem-less and as straight as an arrow – to propel you forward, without a delay or any unnecessary stress, which will only slow your progress down? (The shortest distance between two points or the goal-post is a straight line. Anything less will use up more of your time, energy and resources to get there.)

3.) The Biggest Reward: From here the Money is Already in the Bank.


Everyone (even the richest among us) has a dream bank account. An amount that they haven’t quite landed on – just yet; but are working towards it. Here, you can actually imagine, as much as you’d like. But just like your North Star (which contains Emotions, Logistics and Finances in those points) it’s taking the first of the three steps here that will lead you – home.


Now you’ve got more reasons and more energy to make those moves. You have a few ideas on how to expand what’s there, and you’ve even got a few specific numbers in mind that you’d like to see materialize, as well.


This layout might sound oversimplified to some…But all of your transactions or connections and the quality of them are creating the numbers that you desire to see in your business. While it would be almost impossible to add-up every single one of them (and that’s not necessary) here are a few guidelines to make sure that what you desire comes around Full Circle – to where you are, right now…


Whatever the perfect “Sweet-spot” number is for having the right amount of employees and supplies in place to give your customers – exactly what they were looking for, easily…Put it – there. When you hold-back in this department “trying to save” something positive that’s needed…You’re actually shrinking the very substance, energy and the mind-set you need to create the positive feelings in your customers – that are directly connected to their desire to buy, and buy more – from you. (Hey, why not short-change what's actually generating most of our money...Then, we'll make more of it, right?) The former consultant or advisor who might have whispered this into your ear a very long time ago needs to find another profession; preferably one that doesn't involve math, or any other life or business "saving" techniques. Someone selling you the idea that something in your business has to lose, so that you can have more of something else that you wanted, isn't as far up the tree as you'd really like to be. Paying millions to someone who can only promise you a plus and a minus sign in the same breath or equation needs to go back to the drawing board. Since when did something that's actually beneficial all the way around in your business, become a fairy-tale?


Hopefully, you can see now with both eyes open…The direct connection between what your employees actually have and need to work with – to directly impact your customers and how they feel about your business. (In some very large businesses “this bridge” has been long forgotten about. Without a bridge that works, how would you be able to get to the other side – where those greater profits are?) When your employees have exactly what they need (which is the same as what you and your customers need) to deliver your message easily sale-to-sale, day-to-day, the size of the impact on how your customers (and your employees) feel to be in your place of business – will be reflected in the size of the numbers you see at the end of the day. This equation is almost always a perfect Mirror image. Now – the circle has traveled almost halfway around, successfully.


Here, in the final enjoyable close of the transaction from both sides of the counter a conversion of intentions into capitol has taken place. This interaction is the "chemistry or alchemy” where your greatest emotional and financial ambitions – join themselves: Together. (Call it whatever you'd like, but the tangible positive results are still present – here.)


Without the “magic” that’s happening there (which caused the conversion) the energy behind your goals and the momentum you’ve built up, literally “gets lost” in the shuffle. And, after those feelings have taken place on both sides of the counter, the bond or the positive spell between you, your employees, and your customers – has been broken. The next step for them, unfortunately – is an exit from your circle of influence. When this happens – everything you’ve been building up for a very long period of time starts to diminish and lose its value. Not just to others, but to you. (The big results are simply not happening.) This isn't a very good recipe for ease, security and stability short or long-term, which is necessary for building a much “larger” circle, where greater profits can easily be made possible. There’s simply no good reason to end-up here; especially when you have a much better option at your fingertips…


When your vision, the right amount of people and supplies meets a ready and willing customer…The conversion practically happens – automatically; without stress or a concern about it – from both sides of the counter. This means, you really can have more – by doing less…Not just for now, but for later on, too. As this strengthens every part of your business, while creating more financial profits, as well.


(For those of you who are looking a bit deeper or much further out into the galaxy for answers to be certain about as far as these relationship principles are concerned, Einstein also put together the ideas of happiness leading to a direct increase in success in his writing, too...)

Once you’ve got the winning framework up and running, all that it needs is a refresher every once and while for both ends. And – there you have it. All of the positive, necessary pieces that keep your business circle intact, secure, and growing consistently – are right there with you.

I mentioned in my first article how easy it would be to get back to this almost fool-proof, guaranteed model for growth and success. These ideas are not that difficult to follow or understand for anyone involved in business. It just comes down to getting back to them now – for real, and in real-time…Where you are.

And, when you add to this expanding equation a few of my unique ideas that will work to strengthen every major part of your business circle, as well as your bottom line – now you’ve got the whole package in 360 degrees: Full Circle – from start to finish.


The only thing left to do from here is to keep on growing consistently, now that you’ve got everything in the right place to do, just that…

PS: About that advisor...Without a good one, you couldn't run your business or keep it alive. So, kudos to those who know how to "do the math" from front to back. A good or sound idea financially, logistically, or emotionally will have almost no negative side-effects...

Regardless of where you're taking your measurements from. If it satisfies: You, your customers and your employees, it won't "hurt" your business, your shareholders, or your bottom line goals. It will only add to them. When positive energy is flowing, your profits are growing; and that's exactly where the Sweet-spot is for everyone involved in your business...Inside and out:)
