The Most Misunderstood Equation in Business History...Journal Entry Vol # 6.

Back in 1904 or so when Walgreens first landed on the market…The founder Charles R. Walgreen had the absolute perfect model for his business, followed by Hershey himself, and then we could probably add the founders of WD-40, and lastly, John Paul Mitchell. What do these companies and the people who run them have in common?
They understand the Complete Cycle of Business from the Mission Statement to the successful delivery of it: Through the products, to the employees, landing right at the customer’s needs and desires (and then the shareholders) and finally – right back to them…A job very, very well done; and the money and longevity to back that understanding up.
Do you see anything in this equation above (even on closer examination) that would cause one to “lose” something in understanding the turn-around here? If the answer to this question is no, then…Why aren’t you following that model?
It’s not exactly about the products or the marketing, or anything these people did or didn’t do in a certain way. The only element that any of these businesses or people had in common is the full-ability to see a loss or a gain (to themselves) in the equation – All the way around.
Desiring to be # 1 in sales is one thing. Getting there and holding that spot is another. And, you know what? You could deliver a decent, solid product and still be right on top of your mountain at the same time. How? How you manage what’s in your circle: The one that’s affecting everyone in it; and the same one that’s giving you – your biggest financial gains.
If I told you – there is a way to run your business, so that there are almost “no losses” coming in from any side or angle; once you’re up and running…What would you say to that idea?
…Since when has it been nearly impossible – to run a business that works?
(Could you imagine that “idea” as being one that’s fully embraced in the surgical community? Yeah, Sorry…We can only do about 80% of all surgeries, correctly. I guess that’s just how it is. No one’s perfect, right? Would you go to that hospital? Why not? A “B” isn’t too bad?!)
For any business to stay in business…You’ve got to hit a lot more home runs than striking out. Well…You have the ability to hit them at least 98% of the time; repeatedly. What does it cost? Exactly what it takes – to do that: Not a penny more, or a penny less. That’s it.
Did you ever add-up how much that “cost” would be to run logistics this way; and to see just how much you’d be “getting back” for that little more – up front? No? Why not?
I thought the “Bottom Line” was…IT?
Wouldn’t someone want to know (beyond any reasonable doubt) that you’re getting the most – out of what you’re putting in? That’s how – you would know (for sure) that you’re the very best at what you do, right?
In the HVAC business, before they install anything…They look for cracks; for where energy (read money) could be leaking. And, what do they do – first? They fix those spaces, before the new system goes in. Then, when everything is installed they double-check those areas to make sure (100%) that those leaks are tightened up. This means, not only will the customer be saving money and energy; but everyone else will, too – and they’ll gain the reputation of…These ARE the only guys you’ll want to call – First.
What does having this kind of operation do to your profit margins?
You’ll probably be known as: THE Best in the Business.
...Ensuring those big bills – will be coming right on in; not just for now – but for as long as you want to hold “that spot” on the map.
How good are your numbers guys? Are they doing a little reverse engineering on the numbers that are there, right now? Why not?
You want to make sure you’re getting the most – you can have. That’s where your direct joy and fulfillment (read security, stability and excitement) is coming from. Where else?
Well…Why are you trying to be as excited as you can possibly be, when there are leaks still in place in your circle?
This isn’t about downing, belittlement, punishment, shame or anything like that, at all. It’s about, what’s just past all of that negativity.
What I am offering you is just this:
An opportunity to make sure – at every major turn, every movement you make is not only a very productive one, but one that makes everyone want to keep coming back for more – and landing a homer almost every time.
There are some businesses out there that are operating this way, and have been for a long time.
Like those leaks…Once you check on them and patch them up in a way where those holes won’t give way over time…You get to keep “the most” of what you’ve got…And, you’ll just continue to build financial interest and many more opportunities for it – from that point on.
It doesn’t take more brains, education, skill, experience or even more money. It simply takes the desire to say…I desire for my business to run just like that. I want to be known 100 years from now – as one of the best of all time in my field. Why?
For HOW MUCH…You get to feel about that. And, how much money is on top of that delicious Sundae to boot. That’s exactly why they do it: Personal Gains.
Who cares about being another player; whose batting average is close to where everyone else’s is? Be a Superhero, instead. That’s what everyone is looking for – in and out of business. The world needs more of them; and you need them to look up to.
It will only take about 10% of what you’ve got – to play at this level; not just for now, but for as long as you’d like to be in this class. Once you understand why certain areas in your business need to be the best that they can be…
Success is almost on auto-pilot, right after that reveal.
Or, you can continue to dream bigger, while also second-guessing almost every move to the finish line to the point of frustration, emptiness and exhaustion.
What’s the best way – for you – to be spending your time and money on Sunday, or any other day?
Somewhere out there, just past the words on this page…Someone IS dreaming, as big as I am.
The Best…Is just a few clicks away from where you are, right now.
But…Is it worth it – to you?

How difficult was this concept to understand and embrace, really…When you look right at it?
I think the brainwashing…That it would be way too difficult, costly, or next to impossible to run your business in the absolute best way possible now is starting to run dry...Good!
That’s where the Best – gets to take its place…Where you are, right now.
And, yeah…You guessed it.
Sometimes…It takes that many sticky, superficial, trite examples and the feelings that go along with them to show you just how hollow this idea has been; and how many industries have been affected by it.
If that’s what it takes…To have your desire for “real sugar” to come back…It was worth it!
